AP Statistics

Course description
AP Statistics is the high school equivalent of a one semester, introductory college statistics course.  In this course, students develop strategies for collecting, organizing, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data.  Students design, administer, and tabulate results from surveys and experiments.  Probability and simulations aid students in constructing models for chance phenomena.  Sampling distributions provide the logical structure for confidence intervals and hypothesis tests.

The recommended prerequisites for this class are: Intermediate Algebra or higher in math, reasonable strong reading and writing skills

  • How many hours of homework are given per week? 4-5
  • How often are we tested?  Quiz or Exam every week or two
  • How often do we write an essay? Although this is a ‘math’ class, we write descriptions of distributions and we justify (in writing) using different models on a regular basis (in the daily assignments).  A key component of assessments is written communication.
