Dear Eastlake Community,
With the recent reaction in our attempt to greet students each morning and the subsequent closing of perimeter gates I wanted to clear up a few misconceptions about our objective.
First and foremost, the closing of all perimeter gates except the main school gate is done to be able to greet all students each morning. I firmly believe that this simple but powerful gesture sends a strong message to your children; we care about you. This is not new to Eastlake High School. We did this last year and I have done it throughout my career as a Principal. There were no closures of gates for vehicle traffic. Secondly, the issue of dress guidelines was not the reason for this decision although it has enhanced our ability to monitor appropriate dress for students. I can honestly say that 99.9 % of the feedback we have received is positive and supportive so I know we are on the right track. We stand committed to a quality educational experience for every Eastlake student, and appreciate your cooperation and understanding. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.
Laptop distribution for students will take place Monday, July 30th through August 8th. No students will be issued a laptop without a signed agreement form. Students need to print and have their parents sign the first page of the agreement and bring it with them to the library on their date of distribution.
